Traveler Tips

When traveling abroad it is import to consider the impact environmentally and socially. That's why at Amazing Himalayas, we take measures to ensure that both the environmental and social impact of our tours is taken into consideration. We recognize the cultural heritage throughout the Himalayan region is unique. So we advise travelers for a more rewarding holiday please consider and respect the local culture and traditions that have stood for thousands of years.

Before You Go

  • Do your research. Read a good guidebook or browse the Internet to find out more about your destination and its people.
  • Try to learn a few words of the local language, especially greetings. Local people will appreciate and respect your efforts.
  • Try to gauge the expected temperature and weather conditions you might expect at your destination. It will make it easier for you to pack for the trip.
  • Visit your doctor for any applicable vaccinations and any other possible requirements. Purchase travel insurance.
  • Invest in a good quality, lightweight comfortable backpack.
  • If you are thinking of taking tours, ask your tour operator for local information.
  • What to Pack

  • Travel light. While packing make sure you pack what's needed for your trip. A few warm clothes and good hiking shoes are essential; some extra warm clothes are a must. E.g. Thermals, windbreaker jacket etc.
  • A camel back or hard plastic water bottle to refill.
  • Water purifying pills or an alternative water sterilizer in case of an emergency. We will make every attempt to provide you with boiled water to refill your bottles. This will also reduce the number of plastic bottles used.
  • A lightweight sleeping bag. We recommend one that is suitable at -14 Degrees or below.
  • A First Aid kit and any specific medications for individual conditions.
  • If you are a photography or videography enthusiast, we advise that you attempt to keep your equipment as lightweight as possible. Solar chargers are also recommended. Some tour destinations are quite remote and if power is available it is a precious commodity.
  • High Altitudes

  • Always drink a lot and keep yourself rehydrated.
  • In case of dizziness, slight headache or nausea, speak to the local guides and take a break. Never continue to a higher elevation unless you feel better.
  • In case the symptom does not go down after an hour always move down to a lower altitude.
  • It is your life never pretend to be tough. We care about your safety and we can arrange other exciting activities at lower altitudes.
