Rajasthan

Rajasthan – the very name conjures up contrasting images of glistening golden desert dunes, parched landscapes, arid climate and then again, rich culture and cuisine, vibrant arts and crafts, eventful historic episodes, chivalrous and highly cultured people. Probably the constant war with the inimical natural elements has imparted a passion to the natives who live every day of their life to the fullest.

For a small state, Uttarakhand (formerly Uttaranchal) packs in an incredible amount. You can be taking yoga classes at an ashram in Rishikesh and white-water rafting down the Ganges one day, trekking in the shadow of the Himalayas the next. Walk with pilgrims to ancient temples near the source of Ganges and Yamuna Rivers, or take puja (offering or prayers) with thousands of devotees on the ghats at Haridwar.

However, the municipal areas are dominated by the plainsmen, who have settled there, owing to their businesses and Government services.

Nepal

Nepal, symbolizing to the world by the Mt. Everest and Lumbini, is not only the home of high snowy mountains but home to various ethnic groups with vibrant cultures, religions, ancient history, languages and scenic grandeur.
